Back on topic.

Pet DP was a stealth (hidden) update, right? I think it was done to weaken thumpers a bit because they are on the strong side. I doubt it is to strengthen IWAY though because the pets do nothing.

IWAY's WANT their pets to die, its the ONLY way they can heal themselves. If their pets have DP, they die easier, meaning that they can heal themselves quicker, this would be a buff.

But as IWAY is a relativley hard build to play effectivley, as most teams leave the pets, and then just own the warriors, meaning they cannot heal themselves effectivley, they are praticly usless.

The reason people dislike IWAY is because when they weres invented they were an easy build to play, and no-one really knew how to counter them, however times have changed, and IWAY will always be near impposible to play effectivley, (aslong as your not up against total morons ).

Overall, this update really makes no diffrence, and i am sure rangers can find a good use for this pet DP.

Right, just like how rangers found a use for pets (in general) since the game first released! Oh wait......

pets are there to be primarily tanks, which they can do, with skills such as heal as one etc. the damage they do is extra bonus, and not initilay what they were designed for.

Who knows, a skill using DP might occur in Nightfall-Hence the upadte.

You are joking?

I'm not too concerned about this (although I do find it very annoying), as normally in PvE if I'm using my pet it's only going to die if I die. If I die 4 times, I don't see why I should be almost unaffected by my death penalty while everyone else has severe problems with it.

And in PvP where you can get Death Penalties, if I die twice, it generally means we're in trouble, as everyone else will have as well. Only exception is GvG, but given my guild, I'm not too worried about getting into one of those any time soon.

It is annoying, because the pets require a summoning skill at least, and unless you're planning on wipeing out your team whenever you die, a rez also, for you to take them in PvE or PvP, and 2 protective skills if you want them to be able to survive (although taking those two generally means they're much harder to kill than a human). Adding DP onto that, the protective skills are neccessary, unless you restart or lose every time you die.

At least, if you add DP for the pets, let us add runes to them as well. You're making them out to be mini humans, well maybe you could add a piece of armour for them.

Maybe a base of +20 AL, one with some bonus hp (about 50) and one with 2 or 3 points of bonus damage. One armour slot for your pet, capable of holding one of those pieces, which can have one rune on it. A rune of vigor, or Pet runes for bonus AL at a cost of health or bonus damage at the cost of health.

Failing that, buff the BM skills again.

i think runes, or maybe the fact that they can be used without a skill in the skill bar should be used for pets to improve their effectiveness.

If anyone seriously thinks pet DP buffs IWAY, they need to uninstall the game.

it makes their pets die quicker, which in turn makes them able to heal themselves faster-so yes, it is a unintended buff.

Plus my Guild Wars is uninstalled XD.

Please stop saying that expertise should only apply to ranger skills,
Necros do not gain energy only when another necro dies.
Mesmers can fast cast spells from any profession (that has spells)
Elementalists can use their extra energy for any energy requiring skill, not only elementalists.

But back on topic.
I dont think that death penalty on pets is a huge deal. It might make people more apt to heal their pets rather than just letting them die.

I agree about the primary proffesions.

I also agree about the healing pets-we now have 'Heal as one' and various new skills to heal your pets-so they should be easier to keep alive.

I've tried beastmastery in PvE. It does a lot of damage. If you setup the right skills your pet can tank, though they're not a very practical tank since they don't usually take the aggro. They're pretty effective at stacking on conditions too. Pets can interrupt, but they're so-so at it.

The great benefit of beastmastery is that your pet can die as much as necessary and you can always bring him back in an instant to take hits for you again... I guess that'll be gone soon.

Incidentally, while I don't PvP, from what I know about IWAY the pets generally stay dead. So DP doesn't make a difference.

Ive been bunny thumping for a while (Which i find strange because my ranger is named bunny and my piggy since presearing has always been named thumper....but its purely coincidence i swear!!), and for the most part, my pet doesnt really die as often as i do. If my pet is getting DPed, it will be likely less than the DP i'm suffering myself. The question is wether morale boost really has any affect, meaning that even if we have flag control, my pet doesnt benefit, and thats not very fair >.<

IWAY doesnt care about DP, in fact IWAYers often swap out pets for low lvl 5 ones so they die faster (Hey look another advantage of a PvE char over a PvP char ).

I'm wondering how petsmite will react to this...hmmn, not that that build was any good to begin with.

I was more concerned about the B/P build when i heard this stealth nerf, but since it doesnt affect PvE, i suppose that build is safe.

Well the crappy armor of your pets is a problem. There is also the impossibility of using pet kills and "your" skills at the same time.

plus, we dont care if you play or not.

To the issue at hand: beasts dont get a DP. The reason why you dont see many gvg beasties is because no one is GOOD at it. (cept for me)

And I suppose, on a similar note, Energy Storage can only be used with Elementalist spells and Fast Casting only applies to Mesmer spells. And so on for all the primary attributes (except divine favor).

The worst thing, is basicly once your pet dies, A BM is now useless. DP racks up fast after 15%...

And NTM that most people will target pets FIRST, because killing the pet disables the owners skills for 8 seconds...
